Ahh, the good old days!
Jun 25 2010
It's always fun (sometimes embarrassing) to rediscover old music and the memories that go with them. I was going through a few of my large hard drives for some much needed spring summer cleaning and I found a recording off the radio of a song I mixed. It was actually the first time I'd ever heard a mix of mine on Top 40 radio. It's about 4 or 5 years old. But it's an interesting and eye opening experience to hear how the radio mangles your mix and what your left with. Upon first listening.. The hi-hat is absolutely dreadful sounding... Shoot me now... I don't remember it sounding that sizzly. It's slightly reminiscent of bacon frying in a skillet. The cymbals are damn near as painful. Ouch! - BUT - There is a saving grace. The guitars sound pretty awesome! \m/ - Honestly though, the whole thing sounds alright considering all the processing & "the meat grinder" that radio is. It could have been worse, much worse!
Anyway, it was fun to stumble on this little gem in the archives and take a listen. I suppose your probably curious to hear it now too, right? Of course you are!
Here it is! -> Check it out!
